POSITION: CASHIER
REPORTS TO: STORE MANAGER
LOCATION: TWIN LEAF GAS AND TOBACCO (TLGT)
CLASSIFICATION: OPERATIONS
JOB PURPOSE: The Cashier will be responsible for providing superior customer service, assisting customers with purchasing decisions, locating merchandise, resolving customer issues and concerns, and promoting company products including Grab n Go items. In addition, the Cashier will ensure proper presentation of the store. This position is in a fast-pace environment with a high volume of customers during peak times. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
– Ability to make a great, positive, and long lasting first impression.
– Effectively handle multiple customers while maintaining poise and upholding our customer service standards.
– Answer customer questions regarding store merchandise and product offerings
– Strong customer service and selling techniques, upselling items when opportunity arises.
– Ability to maintain a cash drawer and accurately record transactions.
– Cash handling and operation of POS (Point of Sale) touch screen register system
– Work alongside your peers to ensure all products are neatly stocked and organized in their proper location.
– Keep the register counter tidy and presentable.
– Ensure the store is neat and tidy for customers.
– Assist in putting deliveries away and cleaning shelves on down time when not with a customer.
– Maintain a high level of security and effective loss prevention strategies.
– Participate in company provided training on confidentiality, counterfeit money, and other trainings we may offer.
– Ensure coffee bar and hot food area is stocked and clean for customers.
– Stock cigarettes
– Stock cooler as needed.
– In the absence of Cleaner, ensure the customer restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitary for customers.
– Check receiving bay for overstock product and refill shelf as needed.
– Report any issues with machines and defective products to store supervisor.
– Assist Grab n Go, familiarizing self with recipes and procedures.
– Assist diner with all to go orders, learning the Diner Point of Sale (POS) to be able to assist with placing customer orders.
– Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
– High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) is considered an asset
– Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
– Ability to learn new tasks working efficiently under pressure during busy times
