JOB PURPOSE: The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and facilities across multiple locations. They will assist the Maintenance Manager in carrying out different projects and daily tasks, ensuring all facilities are clean and safe for customers and staff. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, a broad knowledge of building systems, and the ability to travel between sites as needed. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of ensuring that all facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and other facility systems.
– Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs across all assigned locations.
– Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service tickets.
– Maintain grounds and common areas, including basic landscaping, snow removal, and waste management.
– Perform basic carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
– Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles (if applicable) are properly maintained and safe to use.
– Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent at each location.
– Travel daily or as scheduled to various properties/facilities within Akwesasne, including Cornwall Island and Cornwall when needed.
– Follow all safety protocols and company policies.
– Be courteous, friendly, and professional when interacting with the public or customers
– Performs additional duties as requested by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
· 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or building services.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
· Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple locations.
· Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a variety of physical conditions (e.g., ladders, confined spaces).
Preferred Skills:
· Experience in a multi-site maintenance role.
· Strong communication and documentation skills.
· Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of standard hours.
Work Environment:
· This position involves travel between locations and may require occasional evening or weekend work. The role involves both indoor and outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.. The employee must ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.
