The Opportunity
The lead carpenter’s responsibilities include assigning and explaining tasks to the project team, responding to management requests for emergency repairs, and regularly inspecting work done by the project team to ensure that it conforms to certain specifications. You should also be able to help the Sr. Project Manager solve project-related problems. To be successful as a lead carpenter, you should provide regular progress updates to management. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, having the ability to motivate and lead by example. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Paid $25 an hour.
Job duties and responsibilities
- Assigning and explaining tasks to the project team.
- Communicating with management and clients to determine the time frames within which projects should be completed.
- Calculating the amount of labor, time, and materials needed for each project, communicating information to Sr. Project Manager.
- Creating and adjusting project schedules accordingly.
- Inform Sr. Project Manager of all construction materials needed for projects.
- Supervising the company’s field carpenters, unskilled and semi-skilled workers, and subcontractors.
- Performs preventative maintenance on power tools ensuring they stay working properly.
- Have background experience working in residential and commercial construction and finish carpentry including but not limited to trim, crown molding, cabinets, windows, doors, plumbing, tiling, masonry, painting.
- Performing all carpentry duties required, including both rough and finished carpentry.
- Maintaining accurate records of all work done by the project team.
- Ability to keep abreast of new products and installation methods.
- Performs additional tasks assigned by the management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- Certified carpenter
- High attention to detail and good problem-solver
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to lift 50lbs.
- Valid driver’s license, CDL is considered an asset
- May include weekends, night, or holidays
